NSERC is pleased to announce the Belmont Forum and BiodivERsA joint call for proposals on Scenarios of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. This call encourages teams involving natural and social scientists, as well as stakeholders, to conduct innovative research for improved decision-making. This research will develop scenarios of biodiversity and ecosystem services resulting from the complex interaction of socio-economic changes and global environmental changes. Research should focus on projections for up to the next 50 years for management of biodiversity, ecosystem services and their contributions to human well-being.

The approximate global budget for this call is more than €25 million ($37 million). NSERC’s contribution will be up to $300,000 annually over three years for this initiative, with funding of up to $75,000 per project over three years.

Scientific teams will be invited to form transnational research consortia with teams from a minimum of three countries participating in the call.

Further information about the competition and application process is available on the Belmont Forum and BiodivERsA websites.
